Five Questions:

1) What has been your most memorable show so far?

September 1 at the Social; the place was packed and we got a lot of good feedback.

2) Which local band is your favorite one to play a show with?

It’s a toss up between Oceana, The Dream Delirium, and Le Blorr. We talk to some more than others, and they are all different styles so it’s hard to decide, but they are cool guys and all play a killer show.

3) What description gets used for your band that you would most like to correct people on? Why?

The band was reviewed in the Orlando Weekly and it stated we had a “huge jones for The Mars Volta,” and that haunts us every where we go, so we try to shy away from that as much as possible. I mean, we dig The Mars Volta but we don’t want to be stamped as a copycat band, and there are a lot of other bands that we are influenced by, like RX Bandits and Circa Survive.

4) What’s your favorite thing about being an Orlando band? What’s your least favorite?

The positive side of being an Orlando band is that if you’re good you get recognition and it’s easy to build a fan base. The downside is that we sometimes play shows with bands that are polar opposites of us, so we don’t share the same fans, and half the people at the show will be going crazy for one band while the other half is just waiting for them to end.

5) Any big news to share?

We are entering the studio to record our first full-length album called Manuvarian that we should be able to release sometime next winter. So keep an eye out for updates on our Facebook! It’s gonna be really different from our EP and a lot more like the live show.

  1. I don’t typically bad mouth bands, but these guys have terrible attitudes. Watched them at Will’s and after they were done they flicked everyone off at the venue. While they were playing there were a lot of people leaving. Don’t blame anyone but yourselves, and grow up.

    • My name is Andrew, I am in the Velaceras. We did not flick off the venue, One person in the car did, and we told him not to do that, because it was unprofessional. We have very good attitudes when it comes to bad shows, and inconsiderate guests at a venue. People did not leave during our set. They sat outside and drank. I appologize for the offense, and I assure you it wont happen again. We all work very hard for our band, and we dont want to upset spectators. Once again, I am sorry, and I hope you can forgive us.

  2. I came to that show as well, and those guys were pretty cool. They were probably upset because they had just played a great show with The Memorials days before at Backbooth and the turnout at the wills show was a bit lackluster. Everyone went outside before they even started playing. You make it sound like they just flipped everybody right when they were done playing. I saw the guy who did it and he wasnt even in the band. he was probably just one of their friends.

  3. That was a misunderstanding, and I appologize for that, it was a person in our car not a member of the band. We all work very hard for our band and respect everyone around us. I hope you forgive us.

  4. Going to put this arictle to good use now.
