King of Spain/MRENC cassette release shows this weekend

You’ve gotta hit I-4 W if you wanna see it, but it should be worth the haul. Tampa’s King of Spain and Lakeland’s MRENC have a new split release coming out via New Granada, and it’s on cassette. WHICH I THINK IS 100% STUPID, but also forgiveable since they’ll be including MP3 download codes so you can actually, you know, listen to the music. (There’s also a CD release, which nobody’s bothering to talk about, because … passé.)

Thing is, the cassette is limited to only 100 copies, so if you want one, you should probably hit one of the two release shows this weekend. There’s one on Friday in Lakeland is at Evolution Records [Google Maps]; it’s an all-ages shindig that kicks off at 6 p.m. with King of Spain, MRENC, and Walking Catfish on the bill. Sunday’s show goes down at New World Brewery, with KoS and MRENC, along with Co. and Film Strip.

If you can’t make either show, you may want to order it directly from New Granada. They’re currently offering a CD/cassette combo deal for just $8.
