If this were any other player on the Orlando Magic, I’d be sorta pissed off right now. But since D12 is just about the only guy on the team who’s actually showing up and playing every game like it matters (Toronto? We lost to freaking Toronto?), you gotta give the guy a pass when a press release like this comes across the transom:
The latest video from NBA superstar Dwight Howard features music from his kids album Shoot For The Stars with footage of Howard on the court, in the studio, on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and at a very special appearance at Best Buy in Altamonte Springs, FL where Howard signed CD’s for kids and parents alike! Watch HERE
Howard also recently announced a contest on ibeatyou.com where his fans can upload their own videos to songs on Shoot For The Stars and get a chance to win autographed gear. Check it out HERE
Howard’s debut album, Shoot For The Stars (Razor & Tie/KIDZ BOP) includes MVP worthy recordings of popular arena anthems and classic hits, plus the original song, “Shoot For The Stars,” which encourages his young fans to pursue their dreams.
I don’t have a single thing to add to that except this: If you were to ask me to list 10 of my least favorite music-related things, “kid’s music,” “contests,” and “athletes making albums” would be on that list. But damn, Dwight makes it pretty hard to hate on this. (And, seriously, watch some of those videos – especially the one that’s in third place right now – because a few are hilariously not kid-friendly.)
