Fresh Wax: 7-17-09 (Seattle Weekly)

Lagos No Shaking.jpg

Before we get to this week’s new releases and reissues, just a quick bit of housecleaning. Although many new vinyl releases hit stores on Tuesday release dates (just like CDs and everything else), there are often a handful of exciting vinyl releases (typically reissues) that wind up showing up in stores … well, whenever they’re ready. Since companies like Original Recordings and Music Matters expend considerable energy on their analog remastering processes, scheduling is often an issue, which means that usually we vinyl fans won’t have anything more specific than “sometime in July” when it comes to release dates.

Since it’s the middle of the month, I figured now would be as good a time as any to hip you to a handful of releases that are supposed to be out “sometime in July.” You may find them in your local vinyl shop, you may not; but they should be there soon.
